In the first days of humankind, there was only silence. The goddess of life-giving and the keeper of the cycle, Metraia, roamed the earth and decided to give the world a song. From her melody, the first woman was created and she called her Alera. Metraia taught Alera how to sing her own tunes and in turn, how to create her own daughter when she was ready. Alera was excited to welcome her daughter to the world as she knew she would finally have someone to sing with. For the first few years it was perfect. Alera passed down to her daughter everything that Metraia had taught her. They would wander around together, hand in hand, singing songs in beautiful harmony. They discovered that they were only able to produce this wonderful music when singing together, but neither mother nor daughter seemed to mind. Alera believed that this is the way it would be forever and that her daughter would always be there to sing alongside her. It wasn’t until her daughter’s 15th birthday that she realized just how wrong she was.
